Originates from a source that does not
pose harm to humans, such as
• Broken potable water lines
• Tub or sink overflows with no
contaminants
• Appliance malfunctions involving
water lines
• Snow melts
• Falling rain water
Category 2 Water
Contains a significant level of contamination
and has the potential to cause discomfort or
sickness if consumed by, or exposed to
humans
• Discharges from washing machines or
dishwashers
• Overflows from toilet bowls with some
urine but no feces
• Sump pump overflows
• Broken aquariums or water beds
• Seepage due to hydrostatic pressure
on a building structure
